Who are we?

Real Adventures is an adventure tourism company, founded in April 2012 by Clare Wheatley – a fully qualified mountaineering, kayak, rock-climbing, and surf guide. The team has now grown to a dedicated group of qualified and expert outdoor enthusiasts, with decades of experience guiding people in the outdoors – both in Ireland and around the world.

We are motivated by a passion for the outdoors, a deep connection to the power and beauty found across the Connemara landscape, and a belief that the outdoors and adventure sports are accessible to everyone. We are committed to providing a comfortable, safe, and fun space for all levels – no matter what your background with outdoor adventures.

Located in the middle of The Wild Atlantic Way, amidst stunning beaches, a wild and rugged coastline and dramatic mountain ranges, such as the Twelve Bens and Maam Turks – you will fall in love with this incredible region.  

We give people the best opportunity to experience the outdoor adventures on Connemara’s doorstop. We will take you off the beaten track to the best unique and local spots, and you get to explore the Wild Atlantic Way with activities such as coastal kayaking, surfing, coasteering, paddle boarding, rock climbing and hiking.
