Spring at Connemara Sands is our favourite time of year (shhhhh!). It’s when fields are full of lambs and foals, the beaches are quiet, and the roads are yours alone. Guests arrive full of questions, our receptionists have heard them all!
From what to wear for the weather and where to go for adventures, to sea swims, sauna sessions and rainy-day plans, Spring here is best enjoyed with a bit of our local knowledge.

Spring here is beautifully unpredictable. You can have four seasons in one day: pack the raincoat and the sunglasses.
Winds can pick up most days, so a hat if you want to protect you hair style!

Cold water therapy at it’s best. The sea temperature in Connemara in April is around 10°C / 50°F, which we’d describe as refreshing.
The good news? Our beach is very sheltered, with no strong currents, making it a great spot for safe sea dips. And afterwards, there’s nothing better than warming up in our sauna overlooking the beach.

From our doorstep you can enjoy long, wild beach walks in any weather, whether it’s blue skies or moody Atlantic mist.
On site we have our beachside sauna, outdoor seaweed baths and hot-tub, which are open to both residents and non-residents.
We also have our Voya spa at the hotel offering Voya treatments, massage, facials, manicures and more.
Our new Padel Courts will be open, so challenge your friend or partner to a game!
From March onwards, kayaking is available directly from our beach with Real Adventures, who offer guided coastal tours — a brilliant way to experience the coastline and spot our nearly seal colony.

A visit to Kylemore Abbey is great on a rainy day as you can go inside the Abbey and explore the interiors and interactive exhibitions. There are also great dining and shopping at the Visitors centre.
Clifden is a 10 minute drive and has a great selection of shops to browse and a great selection of restaurants and pubs to discover and get cosy.
If you’re travelling with kids (or just want to burn off some energy before check-in), Wildlands in Moycullen is a great stop en route. Lots of fun activities including indoor ninja course and Celtic-themed escape rooms, and kids sized mini village — perfect for rainy days.
